Although residency can be one of the most challenging times in one’s medical career for childbearing, each year an increasing number of resident physicians get pregnant and have children. Perhaps you met the love of your life during medical school and you don’t want to put off having a baby for three to seven years of residency during your peak childbearing years. For many women, especially those who had a different career or took time off before residency, declining fertility due to delayed childbearing is a legitimate reason not to wait.
