If you are primarily a medical educator, you should systematically learn how to develop a curriculum, give a lecture, run a small group, co-teach, and run an interactive workshop during your junior faculty career. If you can teach in a variety of settings successfully, then the promotions committee will see you as not only a good lecturer but as a good small group leader as well. Experienced and versatile educators are more likely to get promoted.
