Mastitis, an infection in the breast tissue, is a result of milk stasis which is what happens when busy doctors get separated from their babies and their breast pumps. Again, continued breastfeeding is key. With mastitis, the infection is not in the milk itself. Unless you develop a true abscess, you can and should keep breastfeeding and pumping while taking antibiotics.
